Sunshiney Day

Whomever was praying for sun and warm weather in CA, I would just like to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Seriously, after having rain off and on for the past week or so, the drastic change to sunshine and 70 degree weather has been FABULOUS. Keegan especially has been enjoying it (granted he loves any weather, but when it's this sunny he knows there is no way I can say no to going outside). I wish that I had taken pictures of him from Saturday after he spent an hour "helping" his dad plant our avocado tree, but unfortunately I was laughing too hard to remember the camera and all I could think about was getting my muddy baby washed off before he tracked half of the dirt from our backyard into the house. I guess that's what I get for wanting an hour to go and get a pedicure and have some "me" time and for leaving Keegan with his dad unsupervised. Needless to say it was an hour well-spent digging in the dirt and riding around in the wheelbarrow, if you ask AJ and Keegan.

These pictures were taken today after I let Keegan out into the backyard to play for a while before I dragged him hither and yon while I ran some errands this afternoon. The hose has become one of his favorite toys to play with, topped only by the squirt bottle, which he has become a MENACE with (just ask his Grandma Leach). He'll squirt you, giggle and laugh hysterically and then run away, waiting for you to chase him. It's pretty entertaining...and totally his dad's fault, since AJ introduced him to the squirt bottle to begin with. I have to admit, little boys are seriously THE BEST!!!

* sorry these are blurry, but it's hard to get a little boy in motion to stop and wait for the camera to take a picture.

I think it's time to get Keegan a sandbox to play in...or something he can dig in the dirt with other than his hands.

Birthday Re-Cap

I realized that I have become a lazy blogger...and poor Keegan is suffering for it. Especially since this is really the only record I have of the major milestones and events in his life (since I'm slacking on updating his baby book).

Keegan's 1st birthday was a very small event. For his actual birthday I took him to the zoo (one of his all-time favorite places to be). It was actually quite nice there that day. Not too crowded and not too cold. We had lunch at Wendy's (that we took to the zoo) and he got to enjoy his very own ORIGINAL Frosty (who wants a vanilla one? I mean really...why mess with something that's already perfect?). After the zoo, we came home and just had a quiet night with dad. Nothing too big...which was probably good, seeing as how Keegan took it upon himself to "celebrate" his birthday by coming down with a cold and only letting mom and dad get about 5 hours of sleep Friday night.

We had a small family party for him on Saturday. I mean really small...as in, just my mom and dad, AJ's parents, his Aunt and Uncle and his sister and her daughter. That was it, which was good, because after the rough night that we had had, I don't think we could have handled much more than that. It didn't help that I started to come down with the same cold that Keegan had that day either. Since he wasn't feeling all that great, Keegan wasn't too sure what to think about his cupcake (although he enjoyed the frosting..and liked the cupcakes later in the week). He just wasn't feeling it for his birthday. i don't have pictures of us blowing out his candle, but I'm pretty sure either my mom might have one, or AJ's aunt since she's really good about getting pictures of everything.

Here are a few pics from the "celebration":
